Instituto de Fomento de la Región de Murcia (INFO Murcia) is the Regional  Development Agency of Murcia (Spain) and was established in 1986. INFO,  which reports directly to the Murcia Regional Government, is responsible for coordinating most aspects of regional economic development and establishing an environment that favors corporate competitiveness through regional  industrial planning, technical and financial assistance to SMEs, setting up of technological infrastructures and business centers, innovation and technology transfer, cluster development, export promotion, entrepreneurship and foreign investment attraction.

Ever since its creation, INFO has participated in the core-committees in charge of planning and programming the Regional Economic and Development Plans. Based on knowledge and innovation, INFO contributes to the development of the regional economy by introducing new industrial policy models as well as promoting and supporting the regional business sector (notably SMEs) through different aid programs and technical services aimed at improving business productivity and competitiveness .

INFO encourages companies to incorporate innovation and R+D-based management strategies and get involved in technology transfer, ICTs, technology platforms and cooperation projects between companies, universities and research institutes.

Furthermore, INFO fosters 8 regional clusters as a key tool for industrial development, business cooperation and innovation. Thus, the regional cluster policy is axed through a regional network of 10 sectoral Technology Centers aimed to offer technological services to the industry.

INFO is currently managing the Regional Smart Specialisation Strategy RIS3, as ex-ante condition to be included in the Regional Strategy Plan 2014-2020 and the Operation Programme for EU Structural Funds for the next programming period. As far as the regional entrepreneurial discovery process is in progress, the energy sector will be one of the most specialised sectors to be nominated.

The ENERGEIA Project originates from the shared need of more effective ways of supporting entrepreneurship in the field of renewable energy, which, in the Mediterranean area, represent an enormous asset for a sustainable economic development. Eight partners from six different counties are taking part in the ENERGEIA project. These are ASTER (project leader) and the Province of Turin from Italy, IAT and INFO from Spain, FTZ from Malta, Incubateur PACA-EST from France, UAig from Portugal and SERDA from Bosnia & Herzegovina.
